SOLUTIONS was formed in 1995 by Alastair and Pat Logan. Alastair is an experienced
litigation Solicitor and Pat is experienced in commerce and accountancy. Both are
experienced Mediators and trainers of mediators. By pooling their resources and
talents SOLUTIONS offers clients caring, efficient, cost effective and experienced
Mediation and other ADR services.
With their links with CEDR and JAMS/ENDISPUTE, the leading providers of ADR in
the UK and the US respectively, and with both of whom Alastair and Pat have trained,
they have access to others skilled in the provision of ADR with specific knowledge of individual
sectors of Industry and Commerce in this country and internationally and can, if the need
arises, call upon Mediators with skills that are specific to your profession, industry, dispute
and even in some cases your product. |
ALASTAIR LOGAN LL.B
MCFM
Alastair was admitted to practice as a Solicitor in 1968 having gained a
degree in Law from University College, London in 1964. Throughout his
practising life he has been involved in litigation and family law and a
member of the Solicitors Family Law Association, the body which has promoted
non-confrontational resolution of family disputes in the Courts, since it was founded.
Since 1971 Alastair has practiced in Guildford where he has built up and managed a
busy litigation practice.
Alastair has written and lectured extensively on legal and mediation issues in this country, Canada and in the United States.
Alastair and Pat are among the pioneers of Mediation services in this country. They
are qualified trainers and supervisors, and have trained lawyers and other professionals as Mediators
through their training company, LawWise Ltd.
Alastair is a founder member and the Chairman of the British Association of Lawyer Mediators and a Governor of the UK College of Family Mediators.
PATRICIA A. LOGAN MCFM
Pat trained as an accountant originally. She has wide commercial experience, including managing
a chain of shops, and as a financial manager of businesses. She spent 10 years as a market
research analyst, two of them with Tyne Tees Television where she was Market Research Manager.
Her other experiences include being the Accommodation Officer for the University of Surrey, County
Organiser for Surrey Young Farmers, and an infant school teacher.
For the last ten years, Pat has been Practice Manager for the Logan Partnership which involves
managing a busy Solicitors office which has a franchise from the Legal Aid Board for Family work and Family Mediation.
She has qualifications as a debt counsellor and welfare benefits advisor. She has been involved on
a daily basis with the family law side of the practice particularly in connection with the restructuring
of family finances as a consequence of divorce or separation.
Pat is a founder member and the Membership Secretary of the British Association of Lawyer Mediators.
Alastair and Pat trained as family mediators with John Haynes, who is generally recognised as the founder
of family mediation and in advanced family mediation both here and in the USA. Alastair and Pat also trained as commercial mediators with the Centre for Dispute Resolution in London
and with a JAMS/ Endispute, the largest providers of mediation in the USA, in Boston, Massachusetts.
